Molloy century a highlight for Gordon

NSW U/18 representative Mary Molloy scored her second First Grade century for the summer during Gordon’s 161 run victory over Sydney during Round Nine action (December 1).
Molloy made 111 out of Gordon’s total of 5-234. She hit 12 boundaries during her innings and shared in a 140 run opening stand with her captain, Hannah Trollip (66). Molloy has been one of the form batters in First Grade this season, scoring 374 runs in seven matches at an average of 93.5.
Sydney suffered a disastrous start to their chase, losing their first four wickets with just two runs on the board. Angela Reakes (23) and Maitlan Brown (20) tried to add some respectability to the score with a 46 run fifth wicket stand, however, the loss of Reakes triggered another collapse and they were bowled out for 73.
Emily Leys was the destroyer for Gordon, finishing with 5-34 off 8.3 overs. NSW U/18 quick Taryn Heddo also took two wickets, as did Papua New Guinean National squad member Kaia Arua.
This game was also the maiden First Grade appearance for this season for Mathilda Carmichael who only recently made her International debut for the Hockeyroos. Carmichael was a regular member of NSW underage squads before choosing to pursue her hockey career.
In other results, St George-Sutherland defeated Campbelltown-Camden by seven wickets in a high scoring match at Glenn McGrath Oval. Batting first, Campbelltown-Camden were bowled out for 257 in 46.2 overs with Stefanie Daffara (79) and Sarah Coyte (71) leading the way.
St George-Sutherland reached the victory target inside 40 overs with Leah Poulton (84) and Lauren Miletich (80) their top scorers.
The last match of the round saw defending champions, Bankstown Sports, record a comprehensive six wicket win over Northern District.
Northern District were bowled out for 129 in 46 overs with Rhiannon Dick taking 5-21 and Mel Penman 4-21, both off 10 overs. Bankstown Sports reached the victory target in just under 22 overs.
